Send data over T5720 ?

Create your own protocol .. try to see how wide is the channel and then try some solution like sending pulses in morse code whith location .. or translate nmea protocol into pulses .. the thing is u will need some kind of device made speciaally for your need's .. I don't known if it's possible to send data whith an old modem 33 kbps or less .. it depend's on the bandwith of the channel but that's an other option ...but it'll hace to be half duplex and the talk/no talk action will be hard yto implement .... a verry simple option is ..... a code at the beggining .. s eries of pulses separated in thime so that the machiine knowns the truck is triing to communicate .. and then send each numbres of the lat and long. in pulses ...a specific time .. it's slow and noise sensitive but it's something ...

Hi I have the T5622 talkabout with a PTT headset. I can transmit OK but I am not receiving anything other than a ''click'' when the other person transmits. I have tested the headset and I am able to recive audio through the connection OK so it would seem the radio my headset is connected to is simply not sending the audio it is receiving from the transmition to my headset. Has anyone else had any issues like this at all. There is no support on the Motorola website for Talkabout radio's at all. Help!! : (

Here a few thoughts which come to mind. 1. You do not mention whether the radios communicate with the headset no on the radio. I will at this point, assume they do. 2. Be certain to have the radio SHUT OFF when plugging in the audio device. 3. Check your VOX settings. It could be your radio is going into VOX mode. 4. Only use the PTT button on the headset. Do not press the PTT on the radio at any time while using the headset. 5. Check that you have CALL TONES shut off. 6. Lastly, if nothing else works, go back to a basic mode, and set both radios where there are no special features turned on. ie turn off CODE, Qt Filter, VOX, Call Tones, etc. Here is a link to the manual: http://www.giantintl.com/RadioPDFs/Outdated%20Manuals/T56XX_57XX_User_Manual_E.pdf Best regards.

We have two talkabout t5720, both set on same channel. One seems to send, while the other does not. we haven't used them before-is there a simple solution? Thanks

Yes. The solution should be simple. The radios are possibly not set to the same interference eliminator code and/or Qt filter setting. Here is a link to the user guide: http://www.giantintl.com/RadioPDFs/Outdated%20Manuals/T56XX_57XX_User_Manual_E.pdf You will find the programming instructions begin on page 21. The frequency, code and Qt filter must be set identically on both radios. For simple basic operation set the code and Qt filter to zero (off). Best regards.

I want to know talk range of Talkabout T5720 - Motorola Talkabout T5720 (7 Channels) 2-Way Radio

Handheld radios generally will talk "radio-to-radio", "line-of-sight" up to 2 miles. Once you start putting obstacles in between the radios you will shorten your range. Advertising literature will sometimes give numbers such as "5 mile range". While this is possible in ideal conditions, it is not common in real-world situations. HEIGHT and PLACEMENT of the antenna determines the range of the radio. Example: Talking from a mountaintop you could talk far into a valley below, much further than the expected 2 miles. However, if you were to be in an congested city, you may only be able to talk a single city block due to obstacles. To get the best range, use a well charged battery pack, wear your radio high on your body, and always hold the antenna perpendicular to the ground when using the radio.
