Rewiring Will someone please tell me(or)better yet,show me a picture of how to "rewire' the off/on/volume knob with squelch on my 29 LTD ?

Usually if you need to rewire your on/off/knob, it is because of a faulty knob switch inside..or broken wires to the knob have come unsoldered.etc. If you have replaced the old knob with a new one,and is an exact same type with same wiring points. you can easily resolder to the orginal areas and it will work. Broken wires from the switch could be resecured to the post they came off of if you have access to the schematics diagram to your on/off switch. If you dont, you can download a PDF file from your manufactorers site..searching for your particular make and model c.b. then download the manual...at a cost or for free.. al

Cobra 19 DX IV out of frequency


I would definitely take it back for a re check. If the radio took a good bump perhaps it can cause it to drift off frequency. Turning the channel while holding his mic keyed does nothing but just throws a dead carrier. No value what soever. RF Gain is just to improve his reception by either lowering or raising the sensitivity of the receiver of the radio. Squelch is to silence the hissing sound you hear when no one is talking. Care must be taken to not to adjust too much or you wont hear anybody. It wont help his transmit audio at all. Recommend you get another Radio Check from someone else. He could be pulling your leg saying you don't sound good. Best regards and hope this helps some......................John.

I have a Cobra 29 LTD Classic that I changed the on, off. volume, squelch knob. At first it worked but shortly the receive and squelch died. I took the wires loose and the squelch as well as the rest


You are at a point where you should send it to a shop. That's the best advice I can give you.

I am a new Truck Driver and I had given to me a good used Cobra 29 LTD CLASSIC CB radio for my Truck. It is missing the owners manual. Can you please tell me what I need to know about the settings on the adjustable switches and dials - SQUELCH, DYNAMIKE, RF GAIN, DELTA TUNE SWR CAL, Etc. or how I may be able to view the information to set these things to achieve optimum performance ? I have the same radio as well. If you are running a "stock factory mic".....do this:VOLUME: set to your comfortSQUELCH:all the way to the left (if you don't mind hearing everything other wise adjust to the right to illiminate noise)DYNAMIKE:If you have a factory mic or "noise canceling mic", turn all the way to the right (unless it squeals and then turn the mic gain down slowly until the squealing stops)RF GAIN:that is your "receive" and I always turn it all the way to the right to maximize reception! In my opinion, this is the dumbest knob ever made since why not hear as good as you can??? thats what the SQUELCH is for!DELTA TUNE: IT IS "USELESS!!!SWR CALIBRATE: don't ever trust it! ALWAYS USE A GOOD SWR METER "IN LINE"Now as for the "SWITCHES"The top left switch is the SWR and as I stated, do NOT trust it and leave it on "S/RF (TOP)SWITCH TWO: If you have it on OFF, you may get allot of engine spark plug firing noise so I run mine in the "middle" (ANL)THIRD SWITCH: CBFOURTH SWITCH: Brightness is to your liking!There ya go! Squelch making scratchy noise


What antenna are you using? same with the mic and power supply also the coaxial cable this is not the solution yet i just want to know so that i can ***** what is causing your problem.state are you using power mic, what is your power supply capability how many amperes can it load , what type of antenna are you using? a directional antenna or an omnidirectional , is it golden penetrator or an ordinary quarter wave? the coax is it rg-8?

I have a dead short in my cobra 29 ltd classic, i replaced the protective diode, & i have also replaced d8 but i still get no power at all, can someone please help me fix this radio for a school project

There a few capacitors in that area you need to check, but first, turn the unit Over and check that there are no burned Trace in that area, if so, repair it. Check that the in-line fuse is good also. Is there a way to get more range from a cobra 29 ltd? My buddy and I purchased this CB and are having difficulty getting a clear transmission at less than 1 mile apart on the freeway. Need help pleas


Is your buddy able to hear other radio traffic (squelch and RF gain adjusted for maximum reception)?Is your microphone gain turned all the way up?Did you follow the instructions for tuning the antenna with the built-in SWR meter? The built-in meter should be 'good enough' to get by with.Is the antenna a decent brand/length? (Longer is better, the cellphone look-alikes are junk).Was the radio bought new or used? If used, it might have a blown output.

There is no squelch noise on my cb. It was there and now there is nothing


I think its vr6 in that radio but you have to turn it till you hear noise. did you use a signal generator to set the squelch?

Receiving volume is very low, I have to turn the volume up all the way to hear anything (squelch is very low when I turned knob to readjust settings) when before I didn't even need to turn it up halfway to hear loud and clear. This just started and this is the first it has been on since my truck got out of the shop for repairs not related to anything that would affect the radio. The shop did however turn the power off to the cab using the switch just inside the driver side door on the floor when they were finished. I'm wondering if that screwed my radio up somehow?


Was the radio wired direct or with a cigarette lighter plug? try the RF gain knob and the mic gain knob.If they are wide open does the radio rec.any better? if not you may have a problem with the main IC
