Consumers headset 980374-0403 The black cable that comes off the ear pad,if you cut it open, there are four wires in side. One is black(strand wire).Second is blue braided,Third is red braided.Fourth is a copper color braided. Can you please tell me what each wire does. Right and Left sound channels,Mike, and Ground. thanks Lee

The black cable is a common ground to all channels and the mic. Usually red cables are used for right channel, and blue for the left one. That would leave the copper cable for the mic. You should have two miniplugs, one in stereo for the earpads ( 2 channels, and black common ground), and one mono miniplug for the mic ( mic wire and the same black common ground that also goes into the other miniplug). In both cases, both miniplugs, make sure that the black ground cable is attached to the wide part of the plug, the closest part to the plastic base. Reversing polarity in the speakers is not critical, but in the mic, it is.

Motorola HS850 I can't get the blue light to come on. I put it on the charger because it wouldn't work. The blue light never came on; I left it there for a couple of hours hoping it was something minor and would eventually start working. Well to my surprise it?s not working. I have tried everything in the user?s guide twice and it still not working. I pressed and held the multifunction button E and still no activity. Do anyone have any suggestions?

Close the boom and hold multifunction button E when the blue light lights up open boom.

There is no sound of the left side of the headset

Probably just need to manually reconnect the wires with a pair of tweezers. Work's for me sometimes. It's a pain in the a$$ though

The left earphone on my new usb logitech headset has quit working, well almost. I've tried all the obvious things like; trying different usb ports; uninstalling the drivers and rebooting to let vista re-install them; making sure the headset is selected as the default device; and the balance and volume are correct. I've had it for about a month and it has been working fine until now. I test the headset in windows vista control panel -> sound.( right clicking on logitech usb headset and selecting 'test' ) I hear a very very faint test sound in the left ear, then a very loud sound in the right ear. I know it's possible that my headset is defective, but i can still hear extremely faint sound in the left ear. I'm not sure of what else to try...?

Try it in another pc, you will see (or more precisely not hear) the most likely fact that the headphone's cable has quit. Buy a new pair.

Left headphone does not work properly

Hi,Based on your post/description, it would seem that the cable of your head phone developed an open circuit somewhere. I would assume it is pretty near the headset itself. On most occasion, it is at the very entry point where the cable goes into the headset.Normal repair would involve opening the side casing where the cable enters the headset, cutting the cable about 3 inches from entry point, strip exposing the three or 4 wires and reconnecting inside the stripped ends. Effectively what you have done is trim the cable a bit shorter eliminating hopefully the intermittent section.Hope this be of help/idea, Post back how things turned out or should you need additional information.Good l;uck and kind regards.
