Have 9 COBRA microTalk 2-way radios that we use on the pool deck for officiating swim meets. (One got wet.) All of a sudden all 9 are not working. I have been the coordinator since we bought these and cannot figure out why we can receive but cannot transmit. Went out and bought new headsets. New headsets did not fix problem. All radios are set exactly on same frequency (6 and 20). AFter I set them, I lock so that radios cannot be altered. Radios are not that old... maybe 3 years. In excellent condition. I charge the night before every meet.

Just in case these radios have been modified, or have lost there settings, please perform the following:All radios must be tuned to the same channel and privacy code to communicate. To successfully communicate using a privacy code, both the sending and receiving radios must be tuned to the same channel and to the same privacy code system (CTCSS or DCS) and privacy code number. Each channel will remember the last privacy code system and number you select. The privacy code 00 is not a privacy code, but allows all signals to be heard on a channel that is set to 00 on both the CTCSS and DCS systems.Channels 1 through 7 are shared with FRS/GMRS. Channels 8 through 14 are FRS only.Channels 15 through 22 are GMRS only.To select a CTCSS privacy code:1. After selecting a channel, press the Mode/Power button until the CTCSS icon appears and the small numbers next to the channel number flash on the display. If DCS is turned on at the channel selected, the display will flash the CTCSS icon and "OFF." To switch from DCS to CTCSS, press the Channel Up or Channel Down button while the display is flashing "OFF." The display will then show the small numbers flashing and you will then be able to proceed to step 2.2. Press using the Channel Up or Channel Down button to select a privacy code. You can hold the Up or Down button for fast advance. 3. When your desired CTCSS privacy code is displayed, choose one of the following:a. Press the Mode/Power button to enter the new setting and proceed to other functions.b. Press the Lock button to enter the new setting and return to Standby mode.c. Do not press any buttons for 15 seconds to enter the new setting and return to Standby mode.To select a DCS privacy code:1. After selecting a channel, press the Mode/Power button until the DCS icon appears and thesmall numbers flash on the display (01 through 83).2. Press using the Channel Up or Channel Down button to select a DCS privacy code. You can hold the Up or Down button for fast advance.3. When your desired DCS privacy code is displayed, choose one of the following:a. Press the Mode/Power button to enter the new setting and proceed to other functions.b. Press the Lock button to enter the new setting and return to Standby mode.c. Do not press any buttons for 15 seconds to enter the new setting and return to Standby mode. For Cobra Customer Assistance:9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time, Monday to Friday(except Holidays) - (514) 683-1771, ext. 2-264 (phone).

Unit shuts off when using VOX or PTT

Transmit takes more power than receive, so you are correct in looking to the battery as the possible issue. Even being new a battery will sometimes be too low to take an initial charge. You might try putting the radio on the charger for 2-3 more charge cycles. Sometimes new batteries need this "jump start". Be certain the radio is turned off while on the charger. Inbetween charge cycles turn the radio on and let it set on standby until the battery is nearly run down. Also, clean your battery contacts with a pencil eraser for better connection. It is possible the contacts have some residue from the manufacturing processes which could block good connection. You reference you had just gotten this radio. If new, you might consider returning it or calling the manufacturer if you are still having problems. If it is not a new radio, you should consider replacing the battery with a new one. As for testing the battery, this can be done with a battery analyzer. Check with a local radio dealer to see if they would run a test on it with their analyzer. This would test the battery when put under a load vs. just testing the voltage, which is what your battery indicator is showing you on the radio. Best regards.

Stuck on rx mode

Rx is an abbreviation for receive. (Tx is transmit) There are a variety of reasons a radio will be "stuck" in Rx: 1) Another radio in the group is stuck in transmit and you cannot reply if your radio is receiving the other radios transmission. 2) Your radio is programmed for Rx only. 3) Your radio has a Tx problem such as a bad mic, or something covering the mic opening. 4) Your battery is low or bad. It takes more energy to Tx than to Rx. Best regards.

Cannot communicate with other radio

Hi there,For initial info, DO swapping the batteries. charger and/or charger contacts. battery and/or handset's battery contacts; If the unit still did not work, this could be an internal electronic/hardware fault. Repairs would require familiarity with electronic components & circuitry, use of a DVM/VOM and a soldering iron. Foremost to check would be for the absence/presence of voltage on the PCB (printed circuit board).micro~

AXU4100 Manual or help

Hi,On a Motorola AXU Series (including the 4100):1. To unlock, press the “D” button for about a second or until the circle is gone. The circle with the line thru is the keyboard lock indicator;2. To change channel, you need to press either the arrow left or right in Normal Mode;3. To change PL (assigned to a channel), don’t think this can be done by the user4. To change Ch. 1 from 464.500 MHz (PL-67.0) to 463.525 (PL-136.5), don’t think this can also be done by the user.Even the built-in Programming Mode Parameters do not have this option to change assigned frequencies and PLs. An external programming software using a PC may or may not allow this. These radios came pre-loaded with its channels assigned with specific frequencies/PLs. As used in a Motorola AXU411, they are:Channel Frequency PL 1 464.500 67.0 2 464.500 77.0 3 464.500 88.5 4 464.500 179.9 5 464.500 None 6 464.550 67.0 7 464.550 82.5 8 464.550 94.8 9 464.550 179.9 10 464.550 NoneHope this be of help/idea. Pls post back how things turned out or should you need additional information.Good luck and kind regards.

QT mode I'm not sure what the QT means on the display of my T6200, but it seems to keep me from being able to receive calls from my friends unless I call them first. How do I disable this feature?

To remove this feature press the Menu key for 3 seconds until the channel number blinks, then press menu agai until you reach the QT function (QT will Blinks or appear) on the display, then press up/down keys to turn it off, then ptt.
