Uniden bearcat bc60xlt-1 channels wont unlock

Channels have to be programmed with a frequency before the scanner will allow them to be unlocked. The L/O indicator should automatically turn off once a frequency is in memory.

When attempting to program my Uniden BC60XLT-1 scanner I receive ERROR. The lock out icon is always on, and will not go out when I press the LO button. Is the unit defective? Is it worth having repaired. I also have a Radio Shack Trunk Tracking handheld unit but would like to use the Uniden as well. Thanks for all the help in advance

It is because you scanner has no prograns in it...put you scanner in manual mode and enter your frequency number and then press enter and you frequency should be there......

Please help I have a pro-97 multi trunking scanner. Why can i only hear the police calls of the town i live in? I used to live in one town and would only hear my local p.d.,since moving about 8 miles away, now i only hear my new town's police/fire calls. I used to have a non-portable desktop scanner which would pick up all the surrounding towns.I always leave my pro-97 on the signal stalker function.Any suggestions?

The signal received on scanners depends on a number of factors. The most important is the elevation of your location. If you are in a valley or have higher ground around you, this will screen signals from you and will reduce the number of stations you can hear. Secondly, receivers vary enormously from one to another. The one you are using may simply be less sensitive. Thirdly, the position and type of antenna is crucial. If you are using a directional antenna it will only pick up signal from the front and some from the back. An omni-directional antenna will allow you to pick up signals through 360 degrees. The antenna must also be as high as you can get it, especially if you are in a valley. Some emergency services use repeaters which allow you to hear signals much further away. You may not be in range of a police repeater.

How to install a new charging plug inside the scanner?

If I am picturing this correctly I see two senerios, you have a 3 point pad and the trace is broken between each of them. Then you could try soldering a #30-36ga buss wire across each of the breaks. Use a very fine tip low watt soldering iron and 60-40 solder with very little flux. Delicate operation, use patience. You should take the board out of the case if possible. If your are really "good" you could "pull" a solder bead across each break. The other picture I have is the whole connection is pulled up. Down side is you may have also broken the solder pads inside and through the board. If that is the case can't be fixed. But try re-soldering it back down to the board by pushing down at the same time heating with a soldering iron. Hopefully you won't short anything. You may get lucky and suceed.
