Droped channel to 17 and frequency counter don't work?

Sounds like a connection is coming loose inside. take it to a CB shop and see if they can spot it. Should be an easy fix, no more than 20 or 30 dollars

Galaxy DX959 CB radio reception and broadcast

Agreed, it has to be antenna. If the new truck has shock-mounted mirrors there may be no bond to ground if that is where the antenna mounts. the coax needs to bond to metal at the mount or the SWR will be way out. SWR affects receive just as much as transmit.

Hello Model radio Galaxy DX959 Purchase date July 2008 My issue is in SSB mode only everything ells is working fine. The damage occurred wail following the transmitter alignment instructions from the manufacture step 5 for the BIAS Current. BIAS Current: Set radio to CH 20 USB TX mode. MOD off. Connect current meter to TP7(+) and TP9(-) VR12 50 mA Connect current meter to TP7(+) and TP8(-) VR10 100 mA As you can see the first step is to connect a AMP meter to TP 7 and TP 9... Well do to the orientation of the radio I accordantly mistaken TP9 for TP6. Now I have absolutely no audio out of the speaker in SSB mode, the S meter needle still moves when others are keying but even with the volume turned all the way up still nothing comes through the speaker. Any suggestions or help you can give is greatly appreciated. Thank you

Re-align the radio connecting the meter to the correct test points. If you re align the radio properly it should solve the problem.

Galaxy dx959 cb radio

There is a protection diode at the back of the radio right under where the power comes in. If you replace the diode the radio should work, if not you need to replace the PLL also.King Fish 034johnklawrence@gmail.com

RED SWR ALERT LIGHT COMES ON WHEN I KEY UP

In most cases if the mic works the common cause is the transmitter in the mother board is shorting out or not soldered to the board properly. another cause could be that your antenna is too close to the CB and will disrupt the signal.

Dx959 galaxy do you know why i would not get and type of communication when some one else with a diffferent radio is next to, or far away from me. I can not even hear people talking. jm60@txstate.edu bn

Do you have any knobs or switches that say 10k or just switches on the side. It should also be on AM if the other person is on AM (this is not a 10m radio anymhz it only has AM, it is a legal CB Radio) Generally you should just be able to put it on AM and talk if your on the same channel. if its been modded and has switches a 10k switch or (high low norm) these may no be in the right place. if the clarifier is unlocked that may also cause a problem, it needs to be on with the switches and knobs in the right place. good luck! play with the switches, with someone else who has a radio.

Just purchased a new galaxy dx959. Coax and k40 10k watt antenna. Installed it in my peterbilt 379. I have a lot of background noise. I tried unhooking the coax from back of radio and the noise goes away. So I figure its not coming through the power cord. What can I do about this? Also can I turn up my vr 14 and vr 16 and get more audio?

You probably have the 959 that has a MOSFET final. It is not recommended that you try to get more power/mod by just turning pots. This can shorten the life of the MOSFET drastically. I normally set the power output to 7 watts and the mod to 100%. This give around 30 watts peak on AM and around 25-30 watts sideband. You need proper test equipment to align the radio. As far as background noise, this type of radio does have more that others. Make sure the Noise blanker and ANL are turned on. If you are getting noise from equipment in the vehicle, you should take your truck to a good CB shop. They can find out what is causing the noise and fix it. ....Don at NTCB, Inc.

I have a galaxy dx959 there is a part w/ cooling fins mounted in the back of radio what would this be called and what is it used for.

Heat comb or heatsink for dissipating the heat for internal component. In this case the final transistors which could be 2sc1969 older units or Mosfet 520's newer models. This does not come on this radio from factory. Radio has most likely had another final added for additional transmit power and the heatsink is for additional cooling.

Galaxy DX959 Can this radio be tuned to get more CH's? How can I do this.

It can not be tuned to go high or low you need to add switches for that and then realign the radio.
