I can't hear through my internal or external cb speaker

I just recently found out I can't hear any RX transmissions through my Uniden PC78ELITE internal speaker or my external speaker. Everybody at work can hear me talk and my needle moves when they talk I just can't hear them. I am at a loss. All connections seem to be tight but I wanted to know if it is something inside. I sodered my external speaker wires and replaced the mini jack hoping that was the problem but that didn't work either. Thank you for your time and I hope you can help

I can't hear through my internal or external cb speaker

Can you hear static when the squelch is at minimum ?. If you can hear static then tere is nothing wrong with the audio system. If you are sure about the squelch, connect goosd speaker directly to the 2 wires coming from the main board bypassing the speker jack. if there is still no sound then the audio amp chip is defective. The audio amp can only be damaged if the output is shorted for a long period of time.

No sound My c.b. transmits but either does not receive,or cant hear, tried an external speaker and it still does not work

You might have a loose wire in the mic plug, also in the plug itself there are 4 holes for 4 pins in the radio to fit into, these 4 holes have tiny metal sleeves in them to make contact with the radio pins. these sleeves are split and you can take a tiny jewlers screwdriver and slightly close up these sleeves this causes them to fit tighter on the radio pins creating a better connection. these sleeves WILL over time spread out causing the radio to lose a function such as receive or transmit I have encountered this problem several times in the past at my shop. Good luck on your problem.

Ii bought a galaxy dx 959 new abought two and a half years ago. i ran it for about 3 months when it started having speaker issues. i would turn it on and run it for a while and i would loose speaker output. needle swinging good in receive and transmit, radio operation was 5x5 so i turned it off. next morning i forgot all about it turned it on and same condition occured, so im thinkig speaker problem, and dont turn on anymore. well three weeks later i get a different job! so i remove radio from service truck and forget all about it. now to years later to the week i hooked it up and now it has no audio at all, so i hookup a external speaker and its a wisper,so now i try talkback and speaker is fine so next i connect it to my car stereo and ofcourse you can hear it but have to crank it up. anntena tuned at about 1.3! so i start messing with it and find the squelch control does nothing, then i notice the frequency for 19am is off by .004 turned rectifier from max to min once all the way to the left its 27.185 with no more counterclockwise adjustment available. any ideas? no speaker audio, no changes from squelch and off frequency

.004 off freq is not the worst for an AM radio. At this point, if you got it to tune to 28.185 that is the freq for channel 19 leave that. I might suggest you try a new potentiometer knob for your volume/squelch. They do go bad and can make it so you can't hear. There is a resistor in them and they go bad from time to time. Good luck.

2 Inputs on one FM Modulator?

Hello rn10997, Yes there are 2 input RF Modulators on the market, they even have the plans to build your own. Now here is the problem this constitutes a remote mic which the FCC has deemed illegal. I know you don't want to hera this and will probably rate me low for saying so, but I would rather be rated low that to not first warn you about what you intend to do. That being said here is how it can be done. From the audio out of your ipod or iTunes device go into one of the audio jacks of your modulator, then connect the other audio input to the CB speaker out this will will allow your to use the modulator to switch between the CB and the iTunes device. Now for a system containing only one audio input. You can build a pre modulator audio switch which will allow you to switch between the iTunes device and the CB while switching the other connection to normal functionality. If you look on the Internet they have diagrams of such things. If you can not build this yourself you may be able to find an electronics technician to do this for you for a fee. Take into mind that remote mic'ing is illegal I hope this helps, Thank you, Shuttle83 http://www.electron-age-technologies-llc.com

North Star DX 330 HML has no receive

Radio dude, we'll try to help with the problem your having with your Northstar base. I assume you have checked all the controls to make sure they are functioning correctly? ok, based on what I'm reading for the problem, I'd say your looking at a bad solder joint on the main circuit board, or a close powerful station might have keyed up and blowed the front end out of your receive. There are 1 or 2 fet transistors in the RX chain and with the age of the radio, one of those going bad on it's own is a possibility. Sounds like it needs some hands on troubleshooting, are you electronically able to work on it?? Hope this helps in your search and let us know,, Mechanic
