Guide :Radio Communications : RS130 Headset

Intermittent power?? I just got the RS140 for use with my laptop. I've got it plugged into the wall and into my PC. The headphones are on the transmitter and charging. The green Power light comes on for a minute or two and then goes off. It just keeps going on and off every few minutes. Is that normal? This is the first charge. Also, I've not seen anything about using these with my laptop but I'm assuming they're compatible, right? Thanks! Larry

Larry, The green power automatically detects the source when you plug it in. If the volume is too low or non-existent (under-modulation) the green light automatically switches off in 10 minutes after you've plugged the transmitter into the source. At least that's what the manual says. It should work with a laptop.

I got this midland 77-092 CB radio it first happened when i putted the antenna with has magnet base on the radio, the radio has metal casing, and it began to make a weird noise, after that got quite but smoke started to come out, so i got it off, then opened it to check it, and seems to be a 3 pinned transistor that is also welded to the casing(guess is the ground terminal or transistor)that got fried, so i don't know if was the magnet of the antenna that cause it. radio still powers up but like for 30 seconds it will start to smoke again from that piece. i will like to know if this piece can be found somewhere so i can replace it, and will appreciate, link or at least pics so i can look for it in local market. thanks

Hi, I would assume that the magnetic antenna has bas SWR( Standing Wave Ratio, mismatch of antenna to radio Frequency). Normally the reason this would happen is that the antenna requires a larger metal base ( on cb radios a min or 3 foot X 3 foot). The transistor that smoked was probably the final output transistor ( The number of this transistor may be a C-1969 ). The transisor you are needing to replace needs to be the same number as the old one due to the chararistics of the transistor. You may also have a bad resistor or two leading to that same transistor. Check them also. After you replace the seemingle bad parts, make certain your antenna SWR's are correct by using a SWR Meter ( sold at CB Shops or Radio Shack. Good Luck on your problem. Radio turns on, transmits until there is any modulation power

I like how you think....aged capacitors are very likely but we must go simple first. Check the control pot on front of radio for resistance from open to closed making sure there are no dead spots. These control pots are subject to corrosion. Unlikely the reverse polarity hurt anything because you did not mention the protection diode blowing it must have been brief.

Reset M&S mc350a?

In this case, it is best to disconnect all room stations from the system. This can help determine if a room station is causing the issue or if it is a bad master unit. Once the room stations are disconnected, go back and try to set the clock, turn on radio, etc. If the problem is still happening, it is a defective master. If the problem has stopped, try adding back wiring while continuing to test the system. Here is a link if you need a replacement product or you have more questions. Receiving volume is very low, I have to turn the volume up all the way to hear anything (squelch is very low when I turned knob to readjust settings) when before I didn't even need to turn it up halfway to hear loud and clear. This just started and this is the first it has been on since my truck got out of the shop for repairs not related to anything that would affect the radio. The shop did however turn the power off to the cab using the switch just inside the driver side door on the floor when they were finished. I'm wondering if that screwed my radio up somehow?

Was the radio wired direct or with a cigarette lighter plug? try the RF gain knob and the mic gain knob.If they are wide open does the radio rec.any better? if not you may have a problem with the main IC
