ITunes or sound card line in with my USB Plantronics DSP-500 headset

Trying to find away to listen to iTunes or line in of my sound card with my USB Plantronics DSP-500 headset. When the headset is plugged in I can not switch sound from iTunes or the line in of my Sound Blaster sound card. Any way to do this? Recently on an HP desktop computer I found setting the device in the Sounds and Audio Device Control panel Voice Tab (and possibly Audio Tab) to reduce the issues with the device ceasing to work. Setting the device from the Sound Icon in the System tray recently only a very temporary fix where the settings reverted to the Sounds and Audio Device Control panel settings in at most minutes. This is at best an I hope it helps solution as I do not know your specific hardware and software configuration we cannot test a solution.

I have been using the Plantronics Wireless Audio 995H for a few months, and today problems started without an apparent reason. Firstly, when I connect my USB connector and turn on my headset, they are not paired anymore. Fortunately, I know how to pair them (I hold the buttons on the USB connector and the headset long enough, they started blinking and then the blue light of the headset becomes "solid" when they are paired). But even when they are paired again, I hear nothing in my headsets but a hight-pitched (and annoying) sound. Windows 7 detects the headset (it show "Plantonics Wireless Audio" in the hardwares), and when I play music or a video (or whatever, the problem is for everything), the "gauge" of sound shows the variation of sound, as if it works fine. I did not install nor uninstall anything for the last few days.


This is not a software problem, it's a hardware one: the receiver from inside the headphones is not working properly either because the batteries have aged prematurely and no longer provide the necessary voltage or the audio amplifier has failed. Unfortunately there is nothing you can do - the battery is not a customer replaceable element and if the amplifier has failed it cannot be replaced, at all - the headset is dead. Brand new Voyager Pro UC WG201/B. Sucessfully paired to cell phone. USB device that came with headset has also paired to headset. Computer recognizes the USB/headset device as Headset BUA-200M. However, there is no sound. Tested using Win Recorder. From Control Panel->Sounds->Recording->Configure, Win reports that the computer could not hear any sound. CD that came with headset setup Plantronics Control Panel and Plantronics Update Manager, but nothing more that I can see. Any suggestions would be appreciated.


D_lowrey Let me clarify with you when you connect the headset to the computer are you not hearing sound or is the computer not picking up the mic on the head. Microphone fuzz So I seem to have some kind of chronic headset microphone problem. No matter what amount of money I spend on headsets, they ALWAYS seem to be fuzzy on the other end when I use the mic. I don't (and can't) use USB ones, because all my USB ports are used up with various other things. Now, i KNOW it's possible to have clear mic sound because several of my friends have clear sound. I often have to repeat what I say because the fuzz is so bad. Anyway, currently I'm using a Plantronics Multimedia Stereo Headset (Audio 350) with Windows Vista as my OS. I've tried it with various programs like Ventrilo, MSN, built-in game voice chats, etc. and it's still always fuzzy. The sound in the headphones is great though... Could this be some kind of problem with settings? or am i pretty much just doomed to be out of luck with microphones forever?


Try turning the microphone volume down in your sound settings - fuzziness is usually caused by trying to amplify the signal to a higher level than it can carry. For your own piece of mind, you might also want to check your headset on someone else's machine - that will pretty quickly distinguish between a headset and a computer problem. A.
