PTT earplug problem

Hi, normally plugging in the earplug should cutoff the handset's speaker. If it does not cutoff it may be that the internal cutoff switch inside the radio is defective or slightly mis-aligned. This is a mechanical switch and could be adjusted by any competent technician. This might void your warranty (if still covered). Hope this works for you. Regards

Cannot communicate with other radio

Hi there,For initial info, DO swapping the batteries. charger and/or charger contacts. battery and/or handset's battery contacts; If the unit still did not work, this could be an internal electronic/hardware fault. Repairs would require familiarity with electronic components & circuitry, use of a DVM/VOM and a soldering iron. Foremost to check would be for the absence/presence of voltage on the PCB (printed circuit board).micro~

Why does my volume not return to normal levels after using a motorola headset? Is there a way to return the unit to factory settings?

While this seems an odd situation,it is quite common. The radio volume is different through the audio jack than the regular speaker. You could plug the earpiece in and out with the radio on and it could work, and it may not be in the manual, but you should turn the radio off to remove the earpiece. The radio should also be off when you insert the earpiece. No, I do not have your exact radio in my hands, just 32 years experience with all makes of radios and earpieces. This advice has not changed in all this time. Also, the VOX feature is often engaged when plugging an earpiece into a radio that is already on.
